Green Products

Mt. Hood Solutions has converted its products to comply with the EPA’s Safer Detergents Stewardship Initiative (SDSI), using only surfactants that break down quickly and safely. Learn more about SDSI here. In addition, we are working with the Environmental Protection Agency to create products that meet the EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) guidelines. Besides being earth-friendly, Mt. Hood Solutions’ products are concentrated to save millions of gallons of water, helping to conserve one of our most precious natural resources.

 

What Does the DfE Label Mean?

EPA allows safer products to carry the Design for the Environment (DfE) label. This mark enables consumers to quickly identify and choose products that can help protect the environment and are safer for families.

When you see the DfE logo on a product, it means that the DfE scientific review team has screened each ingredient for potential human health and environmental effects and that - based on currently available information, EPA predictive models, and expert judgment - the product contains only those ingredients that pose the least concern among chemicals in their class.

Product manufacturers who become DfE partners, and earn the right to display the DfE logo on their recognized products, have invested heavily in research, development and reformulation to ensure that their ingredients and finished product line up on the green end of the health and environmental spectrum while maintaining or improving product performance.

 

Green Practices

At Mt. Hood Solutions, sustainability is more than a business strategy — it’s a core value. Our new manufacturing facility in Portland, Oregon, is designed for environmental stewardship that emulates natural systems, literally from the top down: Its roof is built to capture rainwater runoff, which is then filtered and used in production. Our fleet of delivery trucks are powered by biodiesel, while many smaller company vehicles are hybrids. From energy-efficient lighting and heating to its recycling policies, Mt. Hood Solutions is dedicated to safe, sustainable practices throughout our operation, helping lead our industry toward a greener future.
